Title:
Drunken Reverie Among Blossoms钟馗醉花荫
Description:
This is an original hand-painted artwork depicting Zhong Kui.
Reimagining the well-known traditional Chinese guardian figure, this piece reveals his tender, romantic side — the gentle heart hidden beneath his tough, imposing nature, a timeless Eastern aesthetic of “a strong man with soft affections.”
Zhong Kui leans lazily against a teal-green rock, peacefully intoxicated amid swaying blossoms. Flowers ripple softly in the wind, and a sense of Eastern Zen permeates the whole painting. It feels as if a cool breeze drifts gently out from the artwork. Expansive negative space fills the composition, creating a serene, dreamy and poetic atmosphere. Moving past the usual fierce depictions of Zhong Kui, this painting captures quiet romance and lyrical tranquility.
The painting is framed with solid black walnut timber, showcasing natural wood grain. This elegant frame complements most interior styles, making it a striking art accent for homes, studies or lounge spaces.
Each brushstroke preserves the delicate charm of traditional Chinese ink-wash painting.
Complimentary international shipping and corresponding shipping insurance are included with this artwork purchase.
